In September of 2009, Ontario introduced the Feed-in Tariff or “FIT” program which is part of the new Green Energy Act. This program allows customers to sell the electricity they produce back to the grid through a contract with the OPA (Ontario Power Authority). Systems that qualify under the microFIT program (under 10kW in size) will receive the highest rates at $0.802 per kWh produced. Typically this results in a return on investment (ROI) between eight and nine years. Systems that track the sun have a faster payback time of seven to eight years. The balance of the 20 year contract will have the system generate a substantial profit.
Systems must meet certain criteria to qualify. Projects that are installed by Soleil Power Canada not only meet the domestic content requirements for the FIT and microFIT programs, but also lead the industry in quality and performance. We carry quality built Solgate panels and mounting hardware that are made here in Ontario. Combined with enphase micro-inverters these systems perform exceptionally well maximizing the annual energy production. This means a quicker system payback and more revenue generated over the term of the contract. Please contact us for more information.
